Who doesn't love a good market!? There's nothing like making purchases from the people who actually created the item for sale.
For starters, the varied range of stalls offer you a wide selection of delicious food, including cheeses, mustards, cakes, pies and more.
Then, if you have an interest in local crafters, there is plenty for you too. Artists from the area display their talents such as pieces of artwork featuring wildlife and landscapes of the North Pennines, tactile woodwork items, home-made aromatherapy soaps, stunning prints from talented photographers, beautiful items of jewellery and bright and unique bags for all occasions. The plant stall also proves to be very busy, quite often selling out. Proceeds go back to the Fairhill Trust.
The markets are also a great opportunity to find a new home for those items that you don’t need anymore. Even better make a few pounds to buy something new. Contact us if you would like a pitch for your vehicle.
And as if that wasn’t enough, regular visitors to the markets are volunteers from Epiacum Roman Fort, Pennines Wildlife Rescue and Sanctuary and Alston Moor Emergency First Responders who are always on hand and keen to explain how you can help them and how they can help you.
That’s not all, watch this space for other attractions, including local musicians, activities for the children and special events depending on the time of year.
The next market is planned for Spring 2024. Look out for updates here.
